The Fantastical Life of Serenity is an anthology love stories with a good, solid kick of fantasy to spice things up. In each chapter, the characters, situation, locations are all completely different, but the love is constant. Ms. Valle opens her book with the story of a young doctor, named Serenity, who has no social life. At a critical moment in her life, she simply stops her life as a doctor, and is now a punk rocker-- not like she decided to make a change and taught herself guitar. She literally woke up the next day already knowing how to play... with a closet full of someone else's clothes (that all fit her)... in a different country. And so we follow Serenity on her journey through different lives: as a social worker who has just been struck blind, a private investigator on a mission, even a mermaid learning how to cope with having a tail on land. And in each life, Serenity meets this guy with green eyes. Just go with it; it will all make sense by the end.I loved discovering how different and exciting each of Serenity's lives could be--- and they ARE varied, covering different generations and continents. The ideas in this book are fun and solid, and through it all, there was an emotional realness that consistently comes through, even when some of the prose is a bit stifled.
This is a great first book for new author Serenity Valle. I look forward to watching her grow as a writer through many more fantastical stories.

I received a copy of The Fantastical Life of Serenity for an honest review.
Wow! I just can’t even express how awesome this story is. All of the short stories were completely amazing and beautifully written. This story is so uniquely written with such amazing and remarkable stories I couldn’t put this book down.
Each story had an amazing cast of characters and in each story a girl named Serenity who lives through these different lives which weren’t always perfect but some were filled with love, magic, and sometimes loss.
I have to say some of the stories ended in cliffhangers and when I would read the last line I would be like “NOOOOOO” The story was that good! While I wished I knew what happened it was super interesting to let me just read it and think of my own conclusion to the stories.
*sigh* Serenity Valle is an amazing author and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book. Great job Serenity! Can’t wait to read more from you!
I recommend this book to any and all who are looking for an great short story to read.
I bought this book and finished it the same day. Each story was a new adventure and I found myself right there with Serenity going through each twist and turn. The endings left me wanting more; I need to find out what happens next. I'll definitely be looking for her next book.
This was a fun collection of short stories that left you hanging after each adventure that Serenity lived. At first I thought.....wait! I want to know what happened to these people before going on to the next story. But in the end it all makes sense! The author has a very creative imagination. I will definitely read the next book of this author.
Great read. Serenity Valle is a wonderful author.
From the title, I expected more 'fantasy' in the book, in the way of magical creatures or special powers, but only two of the five stories really included that. Needless to say, those were my favourites (book 2 & book 5).
Even so, once I got into the first story, I quite enjoyed it, and it made me want to read more. I liked the way Serenity used various settings, and she did an excellent job with the Australian character in the first story. As an Australian myself, I really appreciated that.
Most of the stories leave on cliffhangers that leave you wanting more (and having to decide for yourself where they might have gone), though the stories don't really link together until the final book. But I was really happy with how it ended.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
I was skeptical to by this book but the I wanted to see just how Fantastical ones life could be... I was interested in what could be but not quite is.... I started the book and couldn't put it down... I was totally amazed and surprised at the flow of the short stories...and how in a way they all came together... the ending was, well, a little surprising and I Loved It. I hate to say it but I hope Serenity falls and hits her head again so I can read more of her fantastical life... A must read for all.. Kudos to Serenity Valle for taking me to a place that could be or could have been...
II finished your first book last night before bed. Started your Epilogue this morning. OMG! I love them!! I will write reviews for both after I finish this one, hopefully, this week sometime.
Want you to know though...I gasped after a few of the stories...just because I wanted to know more once they ended. Lol But, they are so, so good, and we'll written!! I am so proud of you!!!
It is so hard to choose which story I liked best...but, if I had to choose, I think it would be between the Jacinto Belasario story, and your P.I. with Captain Jack. -) Although, I also loved the Arleigh story where you lost your eyesight, too...ugh! They are all so great!!
